"Just for a bit of background info on 'Pump Boys And Dinettes,' the idea of the play was a very informal feel where the characters mingled with the audience and it consisted of many great country/rock songs through-out. Very enjoyable show."

"When I entered the theatre I had an end-of-a-row seat and Carlene in full character came over to greet me!!! She said, 'Hi - I'm Purty,' in her very southern accent but was called away before we struck up conversation properly."

"In the interval of the show they drew a lucky winner by seat number, and the winner went up on stage (I think received some kind of gift) but, better still they posed for photos with Carlene and Kiki (Dee) wrapped around their shoulders! (Nice!)"

"The photos from every show were then displayed over the walls in the foyer - a nice touch. (I wasn't picked, sad). As I said it made for a terrific informal kind of show."

"Oooh, the lucky lad in front of me even had Carlene come up to sit on his knee mid-show and sang a ballad just for him - even involved lots of kisses... (I wasn't jealous... gah)."

John was lucky too in meeting Carlene as she left the theatre after the show on January 4, 1985: "She's such an approachable person and has a lot of time for anyone she meets. She signed an autograph for me and posed for photographs - she's a great lady!"
